Chocolate Cookies Without Cocoa Powder (Easy & Chewy)
These easy chocolate cookies are made with melted chocolate chips instead of cocoa powder, creating a soft, fudgy cookie with crisp edges and plenty of chocolate flavor. Perfect for those moments when the cocoa powder jar is empty but the cookie craving is not.

Ingredients
- 1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup (113 g) butter
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- optional: ½ cup extra chocolate chips
Method
- Melt the 1 cup chocolate chips and butter together. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Whisk in both sugars.
- Add egg and vanilla.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- Fold in extra chocolate chips if using.
- Scoop onto a lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes.
